MY FIRST FRIENDLY FACE FROM HOME....WOOWOOHOOOO!

After a fun week in Rio and many preparations for my onward journey to Colombia....lady luck struck! Emily Fletcher...(yes, that would be Jessica Fletcher´s sister for all those not in the know) was flying into Rio on Monday 5th June @ 8am to visit her friend Hannie, who has been living here for the past 10mths as part of a uni exchange programme!

Sooooo...after a couple of frantic emails to Jay and Hannie, I managed to get the relevant contact and itinerary details and arranged to hook up with the pair when Em arrived!

Em arrived, the clock struck 11am and I was on the blower. We arranged to meet at Post 9, Ipanema beach....what fun! I ran around like a headless chicken for a couple of hours as I made last minute preparations to leave the country that evening....and then hopped onto a bus and hurtled towards Ipanema. As I approached, Post No. 9...there was that familiar face that I have come to know and love....Miss Em!!! Was very hyper (for a change) and all choked up for a little while. Pushed the emotion aside...didnt wanna scare the poor girl...and went about getting ourselves stationed on the beach!

After a good ole natter, a spot of sun soaking and the usual harrasment from beach hawkers, we were ready for lunch. Head over to an all you can eat place in the square...that would be all you can eat meat, salad, fish and more....

Once fed, we made our way to Botafogo, where Hannie lived...messed around for a while longer before I was walked to the bus stop, put on a bus and waved a teary (no exagerration!) goodbye. Needed to get myself to the airport to catch my flight to Bolivia.

Now, if I had had one wish that day: It would def be to spend just one more day with Em and Hannie.....oh, hold on...
